Narrated by actor Liam Neeson, Brave Blue World features scientists, engineers and activists from around the world, including actor Matt Damon, co-founder of global non-profit Water.org, and actor and musician Jaden Smith, co-founder of non-profit  501CThree.

FROM THE SPACE STATION TO NAIROBI TO YOUR LOCAL UTILITY

We visited sites around the world and met pioneers and innovators that are employing novel ways of tackling existing water problems.

Brave Blue World challenges some of your commonly held assumptions and will change how you think about water. We take you on a journey that explores an alternative water future, looks at how we got to where we are today and then challenges some of the most commonly held assumptions about water:

  • Is water a global issue?

  • Is water a scarce resource?

  • Is technology the solution?

“WE ENVISION A DAY WHEN EVERYBODY HAS ACCESS TO CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION AND WE ENVISION THAT IN OUR LIFETIME. HOW LUCKY ARE WE, THAT WE’RE THE ONES THAT GET TO SOLVE THIS.”

-Matt Damon, Actor and Co-Founder Water.org

Background

The idea for Brave Blue World Studios came from executive producer Paul O’Callaghan, who was inspired during his international travels as founder and chief executive of BlueTech Research. Through many conversations with water utilities, technology companies, academics and communities, O’Callaghan reasoned that the countries whose governments were progressive with water innovation, investment, and technology adoption, seemed to have particularly high levels of public engagement and awareness of regional water supply and wastewater treatment issues.

With a desire to change how people think about water and share stories of the pioneers who are carrying out ground-breaking work whilst fast-track solutions to global challenges, our team of scientists set out on a journey to create compelling water documentaries to create impact and awareness.
